There is an urgent need to weight the value of seismic systems to reduce vulnerability during an earthquake

Earthquake monitoring is a technology which measures vibrations of structures during earthquake. Because of the extreme complexity involved in the earthquake processes, reliable earthquake prediction is not currently possible. Present technological advances in seismic instrumentation, digital communication and processing permit the implementation of a real-time earthquake monitoring system. From the point of view of seismic hazards mitigation, it is pertinent to weight the importance of the needs for a robust earthquake monitoring and warning system as a tool towards disaster prevention and mitigation from damaging earthquake. As such, the focus will be to increase the efficiency of earthquake warning system which will provide fast, accurate and robust warnings, even such short notice will still save countless lives and prevent billions of dollars in losses.
