The AEOI initiative is landmark achievements in the area of global taxation governance. As Treaty partners and countries rapidly approaching the start of AEOI, it is critical to take a closer look at AEOI implementation, including the establishment of a robust framework to protect taxpayer's confidentiality, as part of the overall efficiency in tax management, including to ensure that taxpayers pay the right amount of tax to the right jurisdiction, in order to have a fairness and integrity of the tax system as well as to eliminate harmful international tax avoidance and evasion practices. Tax authorities across Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Europe will meet in Jakarta, Indonesia to share latest update on e-tax filing system, as e-tax filing system increases efficiency, oversight and tax management as well as increase revenue collection through better oversight tools, enhance governance and integrity of tax administration, including lessons to be learned from success story of Estonia’s tax administration system, that has significantly changed from old balance based core system to innovative accrued basis and claim centred fully digitalized system, that has reduced the administrative burden and increased dramatically tax collection rate while significantly decreased the amount of debts in the country. In addition, tax authorities will have plenty of opportunities to take a closer look at the efficiency in tax management involved adopting tax planning opportunities to enhance tax compliance and dealing with the new era of tax transparency, including looking at tax administrations in light of the upcoming Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI). From 1 January 2016, the OECD’s AEOI is coming into effect, with automatic exchange of tax information, with global implementation will occur between 2017 and 2018. This conference is a timely platform for tax authorities across Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the region, to work in partnership with fellow professionals to have a common goal on the development and effective implementation of AEOI standards to ensure that taxpayers pay the right amount of tax to the right jurisdiction, in order to have a fairness and integrity of the tax system as well as to eliminate harmful international tax avoidance and evasion practices. |
