In the pipeline, Vietnam has more than twenty rail projects to be implemented, including the construction of metro rail system in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and Da Nang, as such, this conference will review master plan for Hanoi’s ten metro rail systems, with a combined length of 417.8 kilometers, value over US$40 billion, while HCMC plans to build a total of eight metro rail systems, costing over US$18 billion, currently, construction in varying stages of development, with the first two lines will start commercial operations in 2020, in addition, the conference will highlight on the blueprint to evaluate the construction and investment plan for three metro rail systems in Danang by 2020, all this is geared to provide an opportunity for collaboration and partnership for a successful implementation of Hanoi, HCMC and Danang’s metro rail system projects
Vietnam will require US$605 billion in infrastructure investments by 2040, of which, there is a need to meet the transit needs of the rapidly urbanising city in the near future. As such, plans are in place to upgrade Vietnam’s 136-year-old railway infrastructure, with more than twenty rail projects in the pipeline, including the implementation of metro rail system in Hanoi, HCMC and Danang. As part of Hanoi’s master plan for 2030 and vision 2050, Hanoi will have ten metro rail systems with a combined length of 417.8 kilometers, costing over US$40 billion, with the first five lines planned to be built by 2030, including metro line No. 3 scheduled to enter service by the end of 2021. In HCMC, in the pipeline will be plans to build a total of eight metro rail systems, with construction in varying stages of development, including the first two lines will start commercial operations in 2020, while metro line No. 5 is scheduled for completion in 2025, and metro line No. 3, line No. 4 and line No. 6 are still in the planning phase, along with metro line No. 7 and No. 8 are still in the blueprint stage. In Danang, plans are underway to develop a blueprint for three metro rail systems by 2020, as such, this is a timely opportunity to be the first to gain access to critical information in order to evaluate the construction and investment plan for the proposed Danang’s metro rail system projects, as well as to take a closer look at collaboration and partnership for a successful implementation of Hanoi and HCMC’s metro rail system projects.
