Laying the groundwork for the passage of a new trade deal that is workable for member countries and supporting market-based alternatives, while overcoming the regulatory complexity that these new trade agreements have added |
Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact now seems to be off the table. It is crucial for all forward-thinking countries to lay the groundwork for a new passage of trade deal that is workable. A new trade deal that is expected to improve market access, trade and investment flows that will help drive the country’s economic growth, including reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers substantially for both goods and services, encouraging greater investment and addressing new trade challenges in the modern economy, especially to encourage the participation of small and medium sized enterprises in trade in order to achieve economies of scale and benefit substantially in the long term through better trade access. As such, An Alternative to Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Conference 2017 is a timely platform to share perspectives into reviewing new free trade path that leads to enormous economic gains, expands trade and allows for broadly shared benefits. It is also a timely platform for countries to set in place appropriate policy measures to overcome the additional layers of regulatory complexity that these new trade agreements have added. |
